| Import Regulations in Grenada | Grenadian legislation provides for exemption from import duty and related duties for yachts imported into the country. Also foreign flagged yachts and other vessels can import parts and outfit duty free (yacht in transit). The parts are usually detained at customs (the post office) or the freight company warehouse and, to retrieve them, the owner needs to obtain a stamped form - C14, from the customs office where he (or his representative) has cleared in.
An invoice (bill) showing the cost of the items must be presented and customs will charge a fee on the declared cost. For large of expensive goods it is preferable to hire a customs agent to manage the paperwork. A number of the boatyards will provide assistence and their agent to facilitate the clearance of the "yacht in transit" good.
Island Water World will also supply with assistance clearing in "yacht In transit" goods providing it is not an item that is normally sold within their stores.
The majority of chandleries and boat service companies will provide goods and services at "duty free" prices if an owner presents the boat’s documentation and the Grenada Customs (Immigration) papers he was issued upon arrival.
Documents required: a cruising permit, valid for 1 year maximum, must be obtained on arrival (a new permit must be obtained every time the vessel arrives again from a foreign country, even if that is within the validity of the previous cruising permit issued.
The owners of the vessels up to 40 ft pay EC$50; of the vessels up to 60 ft pay 75 EC; of the vessels up to 80 ft pay 100 EC.
Grenada charges upon entry: cruising permit fee (per yacht) - less than 40 ft EC$50, over 40 ft and less than 60 ft EC$75,over 60 ft and less than 80 ft EC$100, over 80 ft EC$150. Cruise Levy (for a person) EC$8.10. Overtime fees are charged outside office hours, on Sundays and public holidays.
There are no exit fees for yachts, but foreigners arriving by plane and leaving by vessel, are required to pay an embarkation tax of $EC 1.00 (per person), to the Immigration office at the time of departure. Arriving by vessel and departing by
